Fuel Facility Imports

Post by Redmoose »

How do you guys decide how many fuel tanks airports get for imports? I literally have no idea what I am doing when in comes to these fuel tanks. Do they have 10? 20? 2? 1? Are they usually all the same size? How big are they on average?
Definitely woulda appreciate to know how you guys handle this when building import

Thanks,

If I can find visual reference I try to match it. Otherwise I decide based on scenario intent. For example if it is an airbase strike and those fuel facilities are worth VP, or are tied in to plane readiness, then I will seed it as I see fit. Otherwise if it's just for flair then I'll do a tank farm or an underground facility.

Here is a good read on commercial airports - https://www.iata.org/contentassets/4eae ... -may08.pdf

Hello RedMoose

I don't have much science behind the subject, unless it is a base where you can see the fuel tanks my general rule I use is:

-Everything underground unless it is a) a temporary airstrip (bladders) or b) an arctic bases (above ground tanks)
-If commercial jets use it I put in a couple of the max (400K I think)
-If it is military and long established for wide body - one of the 400k underground tanks and a few smaller ones
-If it is for fast movers ~ 100K for every dozen or so based there (based on nothing more than a rectal pluck)

The fuel facilities only serve as targets and aesthetics so I don't spend a lot of time working it.

Agree with everything Gunner said, so many airports it's pouring over them on Google Earth/Maps. But since they are just targets (usually for points) I just place what makes sense if they are necessary for the scenario, if not leave them out as every unit takes up some game resources.
