Help with the Pacific please

I was in a sense pleased to read the thread recently that stated that the Pacific Theatre is essentially meaningless because I get steamrollered both ways.
I lose in China with either side and my naval warfare leaves a lot to be desired. I also don't seem to understand where the MPP's are in theatre - I am also ignorant of the fine points of amphibeous warfare though I've found some good info on that which I'm digesting.
To be fair I don't know much about the history, I started to educate myself but got sidetracked by the small unit histories (With The Old Breed etc.) which don't really help though are gripping reads. The point is I can hold my own in the rest of the map - should probably play vs AI for practice but prefer human opposition but I always lose the Pacific.
I struggle with the search function here so if you lot could point me at some decent resources (guides/YouTube) just to improve my game with both sides in the Pacific (regardless of how meaningless to the Meta - I don't really play at that "top" level).
