Weather appearance question

Post by Christolos »

I posted this here first: fb.asp?m=5014114 in this older thread: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.a ... ey= but I thought I would post it again, so here it is:

I have version 1.00.10. Is this what ocean rain should look like?:

It looks odd to me but rain on land looks ok.

The only mod I am using, is Phalen's Packed WP NATOs_v3.1 – Counter Mod: fb.asp?m=4718357

I answered the link above. It's probably an old mod that needs updating. It is probably the wrong size.

I get that I have the wrong weather.png file but I don't get why I have it. The only file I ever switched was the units.png file in C:\Users\C\Documents\My Games\WarPlan\Campaigns\Europe 1939, and I am updated to the latest official version, so how did I end up with an older weather.png file with a tile short? I understand there should be 9 tiles and not 8 like I had.

I found the weather.png file in C:\Users\C\Documents\My Games\WarPlan\Campaigns\_New Custom Images that gives me:

which I like.

Could you Alvaro, indicate what the tiles are from left to right in the weather.png file that is the right size?

Thanks,

C

OK, I see now that we had to update the file ourselves as per: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4926900
...but I never looked at this because I wrongly assumed the needed map files would have been updated in one of the patches.

Also, the fact that this was referred to as a Mod Image Package, led me to believe that this files were for modders only, and that the vanilla map files would still be ok to use.

Does this mean I should swap out all the other corresponding map files (*.png files) I have that match up in name with the ones in the Mod Image Package 1.00.091 zip file?

I am not responsible for mods. Those are user created. So I can't answer if they fixed it up correctly or not.

This is the standard assets of images players can mod
Game Moddable Map Images - https://drive.google.com/file/d/19leJF6 ... sp=sharing
Location - C:\Users\"your user name"\Documents\My Games\WarPlan\Campaigns\"campaign you want the custom images"

The size of these should match the mod.

If you remove all the images from the specific campaign folders it will go back to vanilla.

Thanks Alvaro but I'm sorry I still don't understand why I didn't have the correct vanilla weather.png in the Europe 39 campaign folder to begin with when all I ever changed was the unit.png file, which is a modded file.

Here's what the folder looks like:
Image

Are you saying that all the .png files I have in this folder are mods?
I know the unit.png one is because I changed the one that was there with it, and I changed the weather.png file to the one in/from the standard assets because the one I had was old...

I also noticed that the other campaign folders have no .png files, so will these by default use the standard vanilla assets?

Also, if I delete all the .png files in my Europe 39 campaign folder, will it then also use the standard vanilla assets?

If so, this has me wondering if all the other .png files that currently show up in my Europe 39 campaign folder, are the correct vanilla .png files, or are they mods too? If so, how did I get them in the folder if all I ever changed was the unit.png file?

Last question, which I will test by loading the Europe 1940 campaign scenario to see, do the campaign folders get the vanilla .png files from C:\Users\C\Documents\My Games\WarPlan\Campaigns\_New Custom Images, and if so, will they now populate the Europe 1940 campaign folder?

Thanks,

C

Well it certainly looks like I must have installed some of Panzer Mike's map images but can't remember doing so![&:][:(]

I must be having an old-timer's moment...[8|]

What probably happened, was that I did this a while ago in February, and simply forgot![X(]

How embarrassing[8|]

Thanks Alvaro for your support and great patience with all my posts! [&o]

Cheers,

C

The Unity Engine I used to make WarPlan hides all the image files in the Unity data folder to protect the developer's properties. There is no option NOT to do it sadly.

So yes if you have NO images in those folders it will use the vanilla one.

If you do it will use that.

The modders should correctly label the pngs so they automatically load.

These are the names WarPlan reads to import modded images

controlAlliance.png – control toggle based on alliances
