Important Tip: Strength is not how good a unit is.

WarPlan Pacific is an operational level wargame which covers all the nations at war in the Pacific theatre from December 1941 to 1945 on a massive game scale.

Important Tip: Strength is not how good a unit is.

Post by incbob »

I have seen some people misunderstanding the concept of strength. Strength does not represent how strong a unit is or how good it will fight.

--Strength represents how many hit points, how much damage, a unit can take.
--It is in the combat values, attack, defense, etc. That you find how good a unit is.

Take a CV and CVL for instance. Both will have strength 6 air units.

CV air combat value: 4
CVL air combat value: 2

CV naval air value: 8
CVL naval air value :4

So even though the have the same strength (hit points) the CV will win air combat and do more damage to the CVL hands down.

Effectiveness, not the carrier air units have effectiveness, just measures how well a unit is performing compared to their maximum.
