Can we expect the NOT printer friendly one to be updated soon? Reading on a tablet I prefer that one because of the muted background.

Very likely not since the changes are very minor. The one that comes with the game Matrix does. For some reason the current word processing documents don't allow a general background image to be attached to documents that I know of.
