Is it really worth it to take Greece? It is late January and the Luftwaffe is a little beat up and the army somewhat. Was thinking of skipping it for 1941.

I always struggle in Greece so now I avoid it.

I agree. Greece is not worth the cost unless you can capture it in 1 turn or 2 at the most.

Yes and that is not cheap...to take it in a turn requires an sea invasion and paradrop....so 75 points at least. Then you have to take Crete which unless the Germans built a 2nd paratrooper or the Italians did you have to invade. Another 25...then you may need 25 to take Athens if you don't make the unit retreat on your initial attacks.

NOW you get...1.66 points and 1%

Honestly the 1% is what you want...1.66 is not worth the effort...yet it x1.xx...so more than likely 2...maybe even 3 at some point.

But in return...you give the allies 170 points instantly, 17 MS...

NOW if you have NO way to win in the BOA...then go for it.

You have to factor Bulgaria in the equation. It joins the Axis if Greece is invaded.

It gives 5 pp to Germany and has a production of 4 pp, plus a full corps at 39 tech (180 pp).

So at 26 turn a year, you have to add 130 pp a year for Germany X by its industry factor. You also have to add 104 pp for Bulgaria each year (3 div every 2 year approx).

If you manage to keep it for 4 years, Bulgaria alone will have given 416 pp X factory multiplier and at 3 div each 2 year, plus its starting Corps, will have given 9 div (approx).

You could also add the 2 specialty bonus which will give 1, maybe 2 troop specialty.

Your numbers are slightly off...

Axis the good
Bulgaria gives the Germans 2 points, then you mutiply it, so at least 3...and more as time progresses.
Bulgaria produces 3 points.
Yes they have a full corps...that is pretty much the required Garrison for Greece, plus a division at least.
+1% to all your production...which is really good.
+1 VP

Axis the bad
IF you invade and paradrop figure 100PP for LC...
Potential Italian naval losses
Hopefully minimal losses this way.

OR

Land battle...losses are much heavier and if things go badly the UK may send up a corp to sit in Athens...never know.

UK gains +17 MS...

It all depends on how well your attack goes and how much damage you take.

IF you have to delay Barbarossa...is it not worth it.

Outside that...it is probably worth it if you can take it quickly.
Sadly but the time I normally get there it starts to rain...and well...we all know how fun it is to splash around in puddles with panzers.

Just to have an exact picture to make a better decision, according to the numbers in the scenarios, Bulgarian production is 3 in 41, 4 in 42 and 43 and 5 in 44.

The problem with Greece is that when you screw up the invasion, you can be blocked for months. [:D]
