Effect of bringing Rommel to the East?

Post by BossGnome »

Hi,

What is the effect on the Afrika Korps of taking Rommel and bringing him to the East? He is a great general that I would love to have on the Eastern front, but I am afraid if I do this Africa might collapse much quicker than historically.

The manual isn't 100% clear on the effect of moving generals from different theater boxes...

Kesselring was overall better anyway... [8D][;)]

Off top of my head, I think commander ratings have an impact on the ground unit TB value and therefore taking away Rommel (and presumably him being automatically replaced with a worse general) would reduce the ground unit value in TB. Whether that's worth the trade off or not I can't say.

The effect of doing that would be that you have won a good general. There are no negative effects in Africa. The devs have said it before that players should refrain from moving HQs, Leaders and Air Transports from TBs as their effect is not properly modelled yet.

It is on the list of things to be added to the game in the future however.

Thanks for correcting, I couldn't remember if there was an impact. For now, yea, I'd just house rule to not move Rommel since there would obviously be huge consequences to do so in reality, politically and operationally.

No problem, there are so many rules and things to keep track of in this game, so it gets confusing at time. For now, house rules should do the trick.
