Where to invade Japan?

Post by alexvand »

So, for the first time in any game I've played there will be an invasion of Japan. Where are the best places to invade if you are going for conquest? And the corallary, where are the key places to defend?

It depends where the Japanese are defending and with what. The area around Kyoto and Osaka is the heartland of the country.

I would invade somewhere up north (northern Honshu and Hokkaido first). There you can get the necessary bases for the airforce. After that, the Japanese have huge problems, because you can invade at any other area you want if you got air superiority from LBA.

Well I ended up invading near Fukouoka because that's where his fleet was based and I'm able to threaten the anchorage there. So far it's going well. THe Japanese have so many troops overseas parked on objective hexes he has little to defend the homeland. (Rabaul, Calcutta, Singapore, Manila, Port Arthur are all heavily garrisoned by white print Japanese units.)
