I have only played the civilization series of the games you ask for, but I feel it's important to point out that it's only civ 4 that is good. All the others are dumbed down too much.

I'm not sure how reliable the benchmark data on the other games are going to be, e.g. my feelings on Civ and SimCity span 20 and 30 years of experience respectively and range between genius and disaster for both series.
