DF-100 cruise missile’s anti-ship capability

Post by Sanyr1310 »

Well,it is a long existed problem actually. (across several DBs)

How I found: When I was testing kinds of SSM/ASM I discoverd that DF-100 has surface ships in its valid targets list. However when I launched the missiles to a moving ship, they all missed the target. I was sure there was something wrong, and guess what?

I found that the DF-100 DOESN'T HAVE any HOMING SYSTEM which is necessary for a weapon that counter mobile units.

Confuesd and waiting for response. Thanks!

Assuming the anti-ship capability is not a game glitch, how about adding a YJ-100/YJ-18's sensor on it?

While I don’t have an answer to your question I suspect they’re more likely to see and respond if you post in “tech support”. Good luck!

Might be more accurate to go into the database thread. Looks like a database issue to me. Maybe I'm confused.

This is an article that discusses this missile:
https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/ ... avy-145172

To sum it up there's no information at all that there is any terminal guidance or mid-course course update ability. The only information talks about terrain imaging and satellite navigation. That would make it useless in attacking a moving target. There would need to be an exact fix on the target's position at the time of launch and it can't move. Until there is some kind of information on terminal guidance it should stay the way it is IMO. In the real world, though, it would be possible to lead the target data to hit a moving target -- but, also in the real world, a carrier's escort will see the incoming threat and the carrier can then change course.
