Supply numbers

Post by DrZom »

I noticed when I press the S key to see supply numbers for hexes that there is sometimes a typical black number but also one in red parenthesis in the same hex. What is that?

I've noticed the same thing. It usually seems to occur where two ground units have recently traded locations using the shift key. I think the lower number means that the unit keeps the lower supply number for that turn even if it is now occupying a higher supply number hex. But I'm not sure.

For air units the number means it is not currently attached to an HQ.

Does that unit then get the lower supply level?

I think so. I believe this is the reference to these red numbers in the patch notes.

I confess I do not know what that means. I have seen an HQ unit with a red number; how does that happen?

Hi DrZom,

There are sometimes cases where a unit will have a different supply value than what is shown via the supply map when using the 'S' key. This could be due to how HQs provide supply and the HQ limitations when it comes to air units and so on.

We just now show the actual supply a unit will receive if it differs from the supply map overlay in red and in brackets.

Hope this helps,
Hubert

I have reread the Manual trying to find where this is explained, but I don't see it. How does Montgomery in Alexandria receive the lower 5 supply instead of the expected 8, while the units attached to him are receiving the expected level? He is at full strength and has not moved for a turn.

Thank you for your help.

HQs receive supply from a source, e.g. a strength 5 town or city, and they are efficient at converting this into supply for the units near them, which is why those units may have supply as high as 8.

So the HQ has a supply receiving value, e.g. 5, and a supply distribution value, e.g. 8.

Oh, you mean like 2+2=4? No wonder I was confused. [:D][:D][:D]
