Soviet Artillery/Rocket Divisions

Post by Firewire9452 »

Any advice on how (or whether) I should use these? They seem to drain a lot of artillery, which in Jan 1943 in my GC 41 campaign is still in short supply. I have a few divisions that I can’t disband because Enhanced TB Control is off. I had planned to either leave them in the SR at 50 Max TOE or use them on reserve in my offensive shock/guards armies.

Massed artillery that can attack from two hexes away, does not depends on a leader roll to be added to the battle nor uses a support slot.... I cannot see a better place to put my limited guns once in the offensive.

On map rocket divisions are great for a few reasons, they have motorised status, so 50mp for movement, and 16mp per attack, for 3 total, a turn, if not moved
So they can hammer a lot of infantry per turn and support slogging fronts very well, they can also support mobile pushes nicely, by keeping up with Soviet Mech/tank corps and still being able to bring their rocekts to bear

They do have some very major down sides though, IE their truck costs is around the same as a tank corp, so you are going to have to make a choice on if you want on map rocket divs or, more Mech/tank corps

In most situations I would be more likely to depend on the likes of on map artillery divisions, and fill as many of them as I can, before I move onto on map rocket divs, bar a few very specialised areas, where 1 or 2 rocket divisions, on map, would make a bigger difference, than 1 or 2 more tank corps
