[Logged] Yu Shan LPD’s Cargo area

Post by Sanyr1310 »

Standard displacement:10,000 t

Cargo area:10,000 sqm

Confused.

Appalled!

I don't think its size is larger than LHD-8 Makin Island.

Not seeing an issue there. Ship one carries less tonnage in a slightly larger area and ship two can carry a heavier load (denser items) in a smaller footprint. Ship one has a cargo area of 100m x 100m and ship 2 is 67m x 67m (assuming a square layout).
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

Then how can we explain this? This San Antonio is also an LPD and is twice as large as Yu Shan.

BTW, Yu Shan is 150m long and 23m wide,we can get a max cargo area as 3450 sqm. 10000 sqm is 3 times larger.

Why isn't this in the database thread? I assume its a database issue specific to this unit.

This presumes one deck. It may not be one deck, and I would actually expect for an LPD it is multiple decks of cargo area.

Rather than focus on the number, which we don't know for sure and rarely do, it's more useful to focus on the practical capabilities of the DB item.

Is there something the Yu Shan can carry in real life it doesn't in the game? Or is it able to carry way too much? If so, what is the right amount?

This is a much better way of getting to the root of the issue than arguing about numbers that don't matter in themselves.

A good piece of data to add would be, what are the personnel capacity and mass capacity parameters?

Right!

So, we don't record a reference for every piece of data in the database. It could very well be wrong, but it could also be the result of a long discussion that I wasn't privy to. The provenance of the data actually doesn't matter, it's whether it matches the real world capability.

The value of the data is not in the numbers; it's in the expertise of the guys (notice plural, it's a team effort where we source multiple references and come to a consensus if something is not able to be demonstrated empirically) who maintain that data.

On the other side of the curtain, all people see are numbers and we honestly do such a good job with the rest of it that the weird stuff stands out and catches people off guard.

So I want to fix this issue, like any other DB issue, but the place to show us the problem and get it solved is the DB thread with empirical evidence. The tech support subforum is more a place for open discussion.

No need to re-post or anything like that, I'll get our research team to look into it. Unless it's holding back any real capability we can't prioritize it, but it will get looked at [:)]
