Saved Game Scenarios

Post by Von Rom »

Hi :)

We all know that once a player becomes knowledgeable about playing UV, he can usually beat the AI in single player games.

What I am proposing is this:

In the single player game you are playing, using the current patch (v2.3), play your scenario until you feel confident that you would win, or that you have tipped the balance, or that your side is well placed to face the enemy. You could even play a scenario with an eye to establishing your forces to give another player a tougher gaming experience when he plays the opposing side. ;)

Then save your game and post it here so that other players can download it, take the opposing side in your scenario, and then try to win it.

This would be effective in giving players the incentive to play single-player games as well as giving the rest of us some very challenging scenarios to play.

Play any scenario you wish as any side. When you post the saved game please indicate:

* brief background to the situation
* the scenario number
* the saved game slot used
* the difficulty setting
* the options used
* ship commitment level
* the side you must play
* the game date you must start from.

Let's see if we can't get some tough "scenarios" from you UV players out there ;)

Hi,

What a terrific idea.............. seems made to order for people like me who mostly play AI games. I'd love to try PBEM but my work schedule allows only erratic opportunities to game (usually on long distance flights or while killing time at the airport waiting to head off on same.....). I'll try this one out & let you know how it went.

I have played some PBEM, but some games take a long time. I prefer single player games, since I like to game for long stretches at a time, especially when the weather is lousy outside.

I think this will be a very easy way to get a bunch of challenging scenarios for everyone to play, since this doesn't require a scenario editor. We just play a scenario of our choice, and when it looks as if we are winning that scenario, save the game and post it here.

I am sure there are many players out there who are relishing the opportunity to give us a good thrashing - hehe. . .

I think this idea would work for any PBEM games that are currently being played.

If you are playing a PBEM game and feel you are being trashed, post the saved game here, and I am sure others would love to give it a go in single player. . .

You can't switch a PBEM game into a single player game.

Too bad. . .

There have been some interesting situations that would have been worth gaming. . .
