Garrison Sudden Loss

Post by Bellrock »

Game Verison v1.09.06

From time to time I keep seeing a sudden and complete loss of troops in a given unit after an end of turn. The prior turn the troops appear fine, and the next turn they a gone. They did not get attacked, are well supplied (100%), good morale (70%), there is extra food / supply in the SHQ inventory, yet the troops disappear without a rational I can determine. I have checked the HQ reports on both turns in question, and no indications are given to indicate a cause.

Typically, if there is a loss of logistics or lack of food, the troops will slowly starve to death over a couple of turns. In this case, all the troops disappear in a single turn leaving only some auxiliary troops in the unit.

I have seen this issue in some prior games over say the last couple of weeks. So can say this does not seem to be an isolated event to my current play-thru. I can reload the prior turn, and hit the next turn and get the same result.
I’m thinking this maybe a bug.

Would love to upload screen shots or a saved file, but forum restrictions are currently preventing me from doing this. If able, I will provide some in a reply below.

I was curious if others are having a similar issue, or can give some tips what to look for?

Thank you.

Did you set that model type's quality to obsolete? That causes the logistics system to return all subunits of that model to the SHQ as soon as possible. If not, have you tweaked the model's or the unit's quality settings? Any model type set to Disallowed in the unit's settings will be automatically sent to SHQ.
Not affiliated with Slitherine. They added it to my name when they merged the Slitherine and Matrix account systems.

"Did you set that model type's quality to obsolete?"

yup, sure did. Reseting the quality fixed it.

I guess it's the little things that matter; good catch.

Accidentally setting obsolete is the most common mistake with Quality settings. Really, those general settings would need some work.

Generally if you want to replace a model:
- set new model to normal quality. Set old model to low quality
- tell the units to only tollerate low, but allow normal and higher quality
- build and upgrade returned units in the SHQ, until you run out of old units
- set the old model to obsolete

A confirmation warning should take care of this ?

While you already managed to figure out the root cause, one other possibility is the Godfather's organized crime getting too strong in a zone and eating up your troops.
