Organizing 4 or 5 player game starting 1st week of August

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Organizing 4 or 5 player game starting 1st week of August

Post by Joel Billings »

I'm trying to find players interested in playing a 4 or 5 player game of AWD using the 1.052 version. You don't have to be an experienced player, but we are looking for players willing to commit to playing it to the end. One of the reasons for the game is to test the end game portion of the Multiplayer in the the latest version.

You don't have to have played AWD MP before, but you do need to have installed the 1.052 version of the game and been able to run it successfully and play it against the AI. Rafael has signed up to play. If you're interested, please let us know here or email me at 2by3@2by3games.com. If you know someone that might be interested, please let them know about this. Thanks.

I only bought the game 3 months ago and haven't really explored it yet except I've gone through the tutorials. I've been absorbed by another Matrix game I also recently purchased. I am very interested in playing. When are you planning to start? I'd like some time to refamiliarize myself if you would allow me to play with you.

Oh wait I see August 1st as the start date. That works for me.

Hello,

My game was working. Then I downloaded the patch 1.052. Now it doesn't work.

So I uninstalled the game and reinstalled the game. The game worked.

Then I tried the patch 1.052 again and now it doesn't work again.

What do I do to fix this?

Hello Mr. Billings,

I purchased the game on April 5th, 2021 so a little over 3 months ago.

I have the boxed edition with the PC CD-ROM version 1.04 disc.

Thanks for helping me with this.

Even if I’m not ready enough for the multiplayer you’re starting on August 1st, I will keep at the game so I might have a better chance to be included in the future.

Thanks again, rma901

Mr. Billings,

I responded to your message to me a few days ago.

Maybe I sent it to the wrong place. I haven't heard back from you.

The above message is another try to see if you or someone can help me.

I didn't receive an email, but I downloaded your dxdiag you just uploaded it to a post I made in the tech support thread you started. I have emailed Erik and the Karl (the programmer) to take a look. Please check that thread to see if they have any additional questions for you or any ideas re what might be going wrong. Thanks.

Hi Joel

I'm finally back. I have read your email sent July 31. I will try to contact some players and let you know the result. Will Erik be willing to play or he is just able to play for just a few turns?

Hey All,
Apologies, Rafael pointed me to this a while ago and I got distracted. But would love to join if you're still looking for players.
Cheers,
Tim

Great. We're still trying to get a few more players. Rafael or I will let everyone know once we have enough players for a game. Thanks.

Hi Joel,
rjh1971 was kind enough to contact me and bring this to my attention.
I haven't played AWD for years (or decades? [:D]), but I remember that game was awesome back in the day. So, I'll install it again, and give it a go.
I'm here if you need another general.

We expect very soon to put together a new version with 2 more small fixes and then make a call for new beta testers to complete testing of the final new version with the Multiplayer system. Thanks for volunteering and standby for the call for beta testers. I've been involved in a 3 player test and so far it's gone very well. I'm really enjoying getting to know this game again after all these years. It will be good to have some veterans around to help any new players that sign up to beta test the game.
