Key Soviet Renames and TOE Changes: A List

Post by DrHiramTemple »

Hello All!

I find it a bit annoying that the game doesn’t show you unit when unit renames occur (outside of the editor, anyways), especially when some of them have a pretty dramatic impact on Soviet forces. So, I decided to compile a list of the important ones, along with some other key TOE changes and disbands.

Shock Armies:

19th Army → (t 21)
26th Army → (t 25)
60th Army → (t 27)
27th Army → (t 27)
10th Reserve Army → (t 77)

Guards Armies:

2nd Reserve Army → (t 60)
24th Army → (t 87)
21st Army → (t 96)
1st Reserve Army → (t 54) 64th Army → (t 96)
7th Reserve Army → (t 54) 62nd Army → (t 96)
7th Army → (t 187)
52nd Rifle Corps → (t 3) 30th Army → (t 98)
16th Army → (t 98)

Individual Units:

1st Mech Div → 1st Mot Div (t 14)
7th NKVD Detachment → 1st NKVD Rifle Div (t 14)
16th NKVD Detachment → (t 25) 8th NKVD Division (motorized) → 63rd Rifle Division (t 54)

Unit Groups:

Tank Divisions → Tank Brigades (t 32)
Antitank Brigades disband (t 32)
Pro tip: guards antitank brigades apparently don’t disband. I’m not sure how feasible it is to even get one to guards status in a head-to-head game, but man is that a lot of guns to slap on a rifle or tank corps. I’ll be seeing how they perform in the long term in my current game against the AI.

Corps Artillery Regiments TOE overhaul (t 30? (start of Jan 42))
corps artillery pull a 180 and switch from mostly heavy artillery(122 field guns and 155 gun-howitzers) to light artillery (122 howitzers and 76.2s)

I’m sure I’ve missed a few notable ones; feel free to post any suggestions and I’ll add them on.

Thanks, that’s a useful list.

Anyone know the turns that either side get bonus AP? I thought in WitE it was with new Fronts, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

Thanks, Loki,

On the subject of renames. I recall the Front renames/arrivals being in the WitE manual but my search of the WitE2 ebook isn’t helping me find a similar list.

Anyone have that compiled or know where to look?
