a couple of newby questions

hi - new to the forum and new to UV

I have a couple of questions:

1) has anyone had trouble downloading the 2.3 patch - I keep getting a "error downloading file. (#99, Line 2 )" message halfway thru the download, I've had no trouble getting all the other patches until now - any help?

2)also, I'm reading in the manual about units being able to move "cross-country", but can't get any unit to move anywhere but a "dot" hex or along a trail or road. am I missing something?

I might be able to help with #1. I had the same message downloading from the game directly (the 'true update' feature), but then I tried just downloading directly from the matrix website and it worked fine (I'm downloading 2.3 as I write this:) )

As for #2, I haven't experienced this problem, but then I don't think I've tried it!

Use a download manager.

#2 is quite normal to get fooled by.

Your unit moves a set number of miles a day. Crossing a non-road/trail hex takes a long time. If you check the unit, you'll see how many miles it has moved. It is actually moving, it just takes days and days to cross through jungle.

thanks - got the 2.3 patch directly from Matrix

still having problems with the cross-country moves - program telling me move "not allowed" whenever I try to move a unit cross-country - even when I try and duplicate example in 17.3 of the manual, program won't let me .....hmmmmmmm......I'm at a loss
