No 3D jungle

Post by Schlonz »

Hi all,

I've purchased and downloaded the game just yesterday.
While playing with the map editor, I've noticed that are 3D jungle graphics are missing.
In 2D mode, everything is fine.

Cheers

Yes, the Jungle weren't incorporated with the 3D for that release.

They will be available in a future DLC when we tackle the African Bush Wars

Hi Jason,

thanks for your quick reply.....and the info about the planned DLC.

I was just about to ask if there's a mod/add-on available, which covers
the conflicts of the African decolonization and post colonial era.

It is worth noting here that the “Pro West” and Pro East” factions in the game already contain detailed orders of battle for many 1980’s African conflicts including the Toyota Wars in Chad as well as the Tanzanian invasion of Uganda in 1979.

My guess here is that it would not be too difficult to create some customised unit bases and objective markers / flags for these factions to get things going here. I was looking at doing this at some point when I have time.

It would also really help if when the next upgrade to the game is rolled out to bring it up to CSVN standard that the end year was extended to 1989. No need to extend the OOB range as you can build OOB’s from a range of time periods and then save the merged OOB file for use in a scenario set at any point in time available in the scenario editor.

Yep, the generic "Pro West/East" factions are sufficient to represent the various rebel/insurgent/freedom fighter organisations
and most of the minor (in military terms) African countries.
Anyway, it would be nice to have some of the big(ger) players (like Portugal, Belgium, Cuba, Rhodesia, South Africa) with their
very own OOBs and some unique units, like Portugese Cacadores and Dragoons, Rhodesian Scouts and early South African MRAPs/APCs.
Oh, and Irish peacekeepers, of course ;-)

Cheers
Alex

Yes, that's why the African Bush Wars will be a DLC

It takes a vast amount of effort to create the order of battles, especially to our standards (covering the entire time span, in detail, being as accurate as possible).

Finding information for Portugal, Belgium, Cuba, Rhodesia, South Africa from 1948-1985, down to company and platoon level is always a challenge.

I'll second that Jason. A ton of effort!! In fact as we both well know a lot of the detailed info for TO & E with the IDF is still considered classified all the way back to the Six Day War.

As for Portugal, Cuba, Rhodesia and South Africa I have never seen a source for those. South Africa in WWII yes but haven't seen any latest info. Finally the standards are high and that is a good thing!
