Well as you know I like them and I believe the cost and effect is just about right.

If you do get rid of supply trucks than you will have to come up with some sort of alternative. Otherwise offensives in Egypt/Libya will become almost impossible for both sides, but especially the Axis. With so many Allied units only having basic supply in France (after D-Day), the absence of supply trucks would also make Allied invasions there (or anywhere) very difficult.

One alternative would be supply depots. They would cost 30 PP to build, only have 1 OP and cost 30 to move by rail or sea. They Would be used just like supply trucks, but can only be used by units within 5 hexes (or even better 5 motorized OPs). Once all the supply of a supply depot has been used it is expended. Finally, they can't be moved and used on the same turn. In other words, once a supply depot has moved it can't be used to provide supply. Of course, you would have to be able to stack them with friendly land units. If you do something like this I would ask that there effect be increased to 6%.

The current system isn't bad, but it involves too much manual clicking and minmaxing (unlike most other systems in WarPlan). So I voted the HQ option.

I like the idea of the being assigned to HQs...keep in mind HQs are the supply depots for the troops around them.
Also I like Harry's idea of adding supply depots, cheaper HQs.

Though I would rather you assign trucks TO the HQs or a front for use rather than anywhere in the world, but that is a lot more manual work, which I am okay with.
Why?

Think of say the Japanese island of Truk...
They should be able to create a supply depot and assign trucks so that they are gathering supplies for an upcoming battle or a long siege.

OR it could but that is a supply depot is surrounded it can be expended to supply X units trapped with it.

Russian could put a supply depot in say Lenningrad and once cut off get a turn of extra supplies for example.
That way the depots don't just get surrounded and wiped.

I like the idea of supply depots too. I made two proposals for them here:
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5057292

3. Ability to build supply depots, depot that maybe captured
4. Supply depots will enhance supply trucks. Only units in range of supply depots will be allowed to have supply trucks.

The idea of 5 hexes range from Harry is nice.

I also voted "Change them to an area based on HQs, higher cost."

You would need to change the name...

The only problem I see with this is that there are times when tanks can rapidly run away from the HQ. On the Russian front I have had tanks 10 hexes away from my HQ.

Perhaps you could introduce a much more expensive motorized HQ with say an additional one or two movement points.

EDIT: As a side note you have a toggle for normal or prioritized reinforcements for all units. This toggle could also be used for prioritizing resupply from the HQ.

This was why the Germans could not go as fast as they do in Russia...supply issues.
Max distance from an HQ keeps them honest.

I don't really think it makes a huge difference to have a motorized HQ be able to move one or two hexes more. What it does mean is that the HQ trying to move through a breech in the lines moves so slowly, that it will be completely vulnerable to attack as they aren't able to actually clear the area.

If you think that Panzers should only be able to move 5 hexes from their HQ, then I would prefer to keep the Supply Trucks as they are.

I hope you are checking IP addresses on poll submissions. Because, quite frankly I don't believe it. I think one disgruntled player is responsible for most of the votes.

I kind of like the idea of a HQ having extra supply for his troops representing some kind of buildup for an offensive. But on the other hand losing the ability to say that this specific unit should recieve extra supply is not good. So I dont really know. I dont find the micromanagement of supply trucks to be that bad it is not that many clicks.

So I am not sure. Have both [:)]. The HQ extra supply could give bigger bonus. A little bit like the offensive chit in WiF. And you could keep supply trucks for the individual unit. More of everything just like we want it :).
