Coordinating AD and ground combat?

Post by MarkShot »

As I understand, assigning a narrow Ground Attack mission target of UNIT creates disruption. Disruption only persists for the current turn (the target does not engage in battle). So, I should give this AD if I plan to actually use my ground units to attack the enemy's ground units? In that way, they will put up less resistance, and their CV will be reduced.

Is this a correct line of reasoning?

Thanks.

yes and no ... [8D]

GA-unit teamed with a follow on attack backed by GS can be devastating but its not quite the effect you describe

GA-unit does a mix of destroy (unlikely), damage and disrupt. Damaged elements are out for the turn (& very vulnerable to destroy in any combat), disrupt flips to fatigue. So the element is available but its hit by the fatigue malus for the rest of the turn.

GS that disrupts is in this sense more directly effective as there is no recovery till the ground battle is over.

So if you have the air assets, double teaming this way can be very effective, if you are short then in the main GS is the most effective option

Yes, I was running both GA and GS with lots of arty allocated to the direct HQs.
