GS fighter escorts.

Playing under patch .09, Axis in the campaign around T10, am having problems with fighter escorts for GS.
Have been doing land combat with GS on, 200 or so fighters within range, and only a few are flying escort duty so am getting masses of bombers shot down by Soviet fighters. I didn't take screen shots.

So set up a test bed.
This is T2 of RtL.
The first two combats have GS ON for Axis and GS OFF for the Soviets. This replicates what is happening in my server game. Not many 109s are flying with the result that many bombers are shot down. Actually in my live game it is going much worse as the Soviets have better fighter cover.

The first second combats are with GS ON for both sides. As you can see lots of 109s are flying and lots of Soviets get shot down. Axis have sufficient fighter cover to protect their own bombers. All well and good for Axis.

Adjusting the GS percentages doesn't help.
Supplies for the fighters is not the issue.

Are other players seeing this ?
Has there been a change with the latest patch ?

This is exactly what I was talking about when I said GS escorts aren't working properly and why we should revert back to 1.01.07. I even made a thread in the tech support forum a while ago but didn't really a response. Check the air combat tab, I'll bet that they say the planes are "patrolling" instead of on escort too.

Yes, it looks to be the same issue.
Are you saying it is working OK under .07 ?

I thought we were OK to continue our game but this looks like a game breaker under the present patch, unless both sides just abandon the air war altogether.

GS works fine under .07, but then you/we have to deal with the HQ displacing support unit bug, and that is another issue in it itself. Imagine losing many tank/inf brigades attached to an army HQ as Soviet or losing tiger units or elite multirole units as Axis and having to rebuild them from 40 exp. I periodically log on to our game to make sure the game doesn't get archived or anything and with the weather improving soon, not having full access to the air war will be a much weaker gameplay experience for both of us.

Tyrone, do you have a save for this lack of escorts in GS? Does anyone?

The above combats were from my Campaign game with Gundam. That game has been resigned but I think you already have a save. Just do some attacks with Pg4 towards Moscow.
The game with Rosencrantus is against me, StB. It should be live on the current turn as Axis. I didn't really follow what was happening from the Soviet side but he is the one who first reported it.

Got it, repeated it. Definitely something new in 1.01.09 so likely a side effect of changes to air transport missions and escorts. Thanks. Since this is something Gary did some work on, he can look at it.
