Patch issues, gathering list

Post by stjeand »

Starting to gather a list so putting it down here.
Some of these are big issues...some not a big deal.

1) Ship (so far only seen CVs do this) will randomly pursue subs in raider mode. This can be reproduced.
YET to see any damage in either direction...so that is good.
BUT it is causing an issue. IF enemy ships are near friendly subs and enemy ships move into both those stacks range for a pursuit attempt...the fleet will something pursuit the subs, which is failing rather than the surface ships.

Work around...have subs no go near friendly surface ships...but this may not be possible in certain locations.

2) Air units are acting strange.
I have a bomber on full support, set to naval in Gibraltar. It never flew against invading Italians or the navy that moved in range.
A German bomber attempted and intercept of a UK fleet by Norway, as expected.
The fleet moved a second time and it did not attempt a second interception. (THIS might be something in the patch working as designed but not sure)
Then a transport moved in range and the air unit intercepted that transport.
So for (2)...I spoke with my opponent Harry...it seems my air did attempt to intercept and did not find any ships which is good to know.
Sadly it does not show up in the report so I have NO clue that it happened.

Still does not explain why when I moved a fleet twice next to an air it only intercepted once and then hit my transport but I will chalk that up to something I missed

Anyone seen any others?

These ones though are very annoying and causing some issues.

I have to say, and with all due respect to Alvaro, that I have given up on WarPlan for the time being, at least until it seems like it has been patched once and for all. I keep following the forums and all I seem to see, day after day (for WarPlan Pacific as well), is continuous messages about game play issues, game play confusion, and bugs that seem to continue to crop up, despite all the patches and fixes that have been coming out. I have to give a shout out to those who continue to play the game and report their findings, which together with Alvaro's great support, will ultimately result in a better and much improved game (with each iteration of fixes and patches), but it just seems like the process has been going on now for quite some time...

This is one of the best game I have ever play. There are still bugs yes but less and less. There is a lot of balance debate on the forum yes but it proves that the game is still played and replayed today.

As for the bug in this patch:
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5083499 (negative MM for Russia - was already in the previous patch it seems)
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5083607 (same than your point #1)
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5084067 (spelling mistake)
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5071226 (and the Leningrad supply bug from previous patch)

Leningrad won't be able to be fixed I suspect...based upon what I can see.

I added some hexes in a test with Harry to see how that helps...basically the USSR must own the rail line down to Kabozha...
After that it is a crap shoot.

I suspect it will be extremely rare for the Axis to cut the rail lines to the north from Moscow.

One strange question though...
HOW is the Leningrad port getting supply anyways?
Once the Germans take over the Baltic I am pretty sure NOTHING could sail with a Red flag on it.

BUT I think it is used to keep Leningrad in supply which I am okay with so long as it is more easily cut.

Leningrad cutoff is working. It is just scripted. So if you have a pre-patch game it won't be corrected.

A new game it is corrected.

Here is the supply picture from the Allied side in the 1942 scenario.

Here the two hexes triggering the road to life are still owned by USSR. But, the encirclement is real.
I will try to reproduce with the latest patch and will tell you.
