I need better binoculars, Sir!

Post by goldfinger35 »

My surveilance Bo-105 helo has detected ground target and after circling for 15 minutes at 66ft, 55kt, 100m from target, at broad daylight, it didn't identify the target. Can my helo crew get better binoculars, please?

It's hard to see on the pic as we don't have the scale. What distance between the helo and the contact ? 100m ?
They might be hidden in a hole.

Sure looks like the contact is ID'd as an unfriendly SAM. Unless you manually marked it as unfriendly, or there's an exclusion zone that auto-marks contacts as unfriendly, the only way that can happen is if you've identified the side it belongs to, and that's well into the identification process.

What's the actual classification level, and what is the actual unit attempting to be detected?
Be aware you will never get level 4 classification on certain mobile facilities, if that's whats involved, hard to tell from photo.

Is the SAM contact a SPSAM ? If so it could take years to ID the contact if it holds the fire.

Unit in question was soldiers with manpads. Even with helo hovering straight over them at 66ft, helo didn't ID it as manpad.

Can you post the save. I'd like to see exactly what was going on and what the helo was actually seeing.

I think that they'd be too busy soiling their pants if it is unfriendly SPSAM/SAM...

It looks like its ID'ed as a SAM, so I'm not usre what the issue is. Thats why a save would help.

Maybe you can explain exactly what seems to have set off your sensitive side.

Spartan, wood, could you take this to PMs? Doesn't really seem on topic.

You can't always be a victim. You do have good contributions but you would be much better served to ignore the things you say frustrate you.

Here is a small test scenario with same units. Helo cannot ID it as manpad (only SAM?) and side, eveny by hovering straight over the manpad at 89ft.

If you want to do recon different unit have different zoom level on there optic. This is the main factor to classified a unit. The problem is we don't have this info in the data base. I made a post requesting this info to be had on this thread.

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5089781

It was available on the baloogan wiki but the wiki is down now so we cat have the info.

If we test with other unit we could find one with better optic. In any case identifying the weapon carry by infantry will be difficult.
