DC African Campaign

Post by Octavian »

Although I am afraid, VR Designs/Vic will have earned more than a long holiday after bringing out Ardennes Offensive so close to Shadow Empire, I nevertheless can´t stop longing for an DC African Campaign with a little more roleplaying again (remember Rommel and his constant fights with the Führerhauptquartier about new men and material for his front or the different allied commanders that tried to overcome the DAK) but also with the opportunity to give players more space and room and freedom for maneouver than in let´s say Barbarossa or Case Blue with his constant tight packed frontlines. The new Ardennes features (LOS, Height, etc.) would really make a HUGE map of the African Coast a wonderfull playground for surprising actions on both sides. I could also see a possible future game structure, where there might be a switch between grand operational and operational/tactical maps for that special scenario.
What are your opinions and thought about that out there or are you busy enough waiting for Ardennes..;)?

I was thinking the same thing. I also think battalion level would work out well for North Africa.

With the release of DCAO including multiple editors, might this be possible?

Everything is possible, but who's going to volunteer to create the map with 1km/hex? 😉

Depending on how much you can change/modify in the editor you could make a good war game from a different era like the Napoleon era, Korea, Viet-Nam, so on and so forth.

Really all depends on what’s in the editor. From my understanding on what I saw in a YouTube video I watched, this is based off the Shadow Empire game engine and that’s way in the future.

You have very active modding for games like Rome Total War where people have created mods that completely change the base game and turn it into something completely different. Same for Paradox games like Hearts of Iron which is a WW2 game, but has mods for the modern era that are quite good. None of these come with built in editors.

I'd like Vic to build a Pacific/Battle of Peleliu spanning 10 weeks with this engine.
