Noob: just basic model changes = error

Post by jzardos »

Ok, trying to get my feet wet so I thought I would just first try and work off existing Watch am Rhein scen. But getting an exception when my scen loads for play.

Steps

1. loaded Watch am Rhein
2. saved it as 'Watch am Rhein Test'
3. test start on it and works

4. went into historical unit editor and made a copy of 'germanymodels.dc4his' called 'germanymodels2.dc4his'
5. back to main menu and loaded my 'Watch am Rhein Test'
6. started simple editor -> Libraries
7. clicked on '6) German Models' and Load Library
8. choose my 'germanymodels2.dc4his' under modellibs dir to load
9. on page just selected 'reload library'
10. back to Dashbaord and save scen
11. start scen and it fails when loading
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Yes the editors will need some more fixes as more people are trying things we never tried.

Will avoid this from happening in next build.

Could you please email to vic@vrdesigns.net
- germanymodels2.dc4his
- your wacht am rhein test scn

So that I can copy what you are doing.

I'd like to fix this a quick possible.

Best wishes,
Vic

Done. I followed the steps in the initial post. I also just recently uninstalled and installed again and repeated steps with the same results.

I am most certain what the problem was. When loading | importing the model library in the simple editor, Jason forgot to replace the Axis regime. That mistake I made before as well.

I could not reproduce this...

I tried.

1. load 'wacht'
2. save 'wacht' as 'wacht2'
3. load 'german models'
4. save 'german models' as 'german models2'
5. load 'wacht2'
6. import 'german models2'

Can you retry to reproduce this bug with the latest open beta? It might have gotten fixed after i sent the v1.00.01 to slitherine.

Let me know please.

Best wishes,
Vic

I dont think so. And it should be impossible to do that now too.

Thanks for all the help here Vic and Klink. The screen showing me 0)axis would be replaced by axis was misleading me that I didn't have to change anything. It actually did not replace, but created a new regime. So by going in and CHANGEing it to axis manually it work. Believe Vic is changing that default display to work as expected. Great game! I had same problem as Jzardos. So this post helped me out!
