Have WiTE 1 and also 2

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Have WiTE 1 and also 2

Post by Edorf »

Hi, all

I initially bought WiTE 1 on GOG a long time ago but since they don’t provide the latest beta patch I put it on hold. Since then I also bought WiTE 2 but since there’s a run of patches and balancing yet on that one so I think I’m going to wait for a couple of patches before playing.

Because of the Holiday sale I’m thinking of maybe purchase WiTE here on Matrix and try the game out. In that regard I have a question;

Is version 1.11.03 more stable ( less bug ridden) than the latest 1.12.06 beta?

Well, this one in 1.12.06 stands out: mech units fuel bug, https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4998967
Not totally gamebreaking, but…

Wow--I had not encountered this, but see that this would be a big problem. Thanks for pointing this out. I usually get to units cut off in pockets and eliminating them pretty fast and thus would minimize this effect on their resupply. However, I will on the lookout for it. Thanks!

I think the fuel bug is probably a bigger issue for opponents who are not evenly experienced/matched up. The issue is that in 1941 in particular you are never quite sure if a panzer is getting real fuel or extra fuel bug fuel and that can become a real problem. If you survive 1941 in good shape it's not as huge a concern from the Soviet perspective.

However, having played a few Axis games it can be easy to cheese.

Too bad a bug like this exists in the game ten years after the initial release. Well, at least we know it’s there…
