What Trackers/Tools are people using

Post by Hano »

Hi,

I'm a relative newbie, I played WIP when it first came out and then upgraded to AE ten+ years ago, had a break and came back to it a year ago I'm in Apr 45 fighting a Grand Campaign against the AI. I'm already thinking about my next game, so far I've done this dumb without any of the trackers or tools that people have created and found it really hard.
I would like to try one of the add on tools I tried WIP Tracker but couldnt get it to work a year ago and gave up, what tools are people using and how useful are they?

I only use Tracker.

In Tracker I mostly use:

Ship Alerts -for finding ships arriving/repaired/converted
LCU alerts - for finding LCUs arriving at destinations
Device - for checking pools/ device data comparison
and some industry data (China supplies, supply spoilage).

Tracker

Essential to more easily analyze just about anything in the game (plan convoys, monitor bases/TFs/ship repair, etc)
A lot of it (not everything) you can do in-game but the Tracker is easier to use and adds more functionalities for analysis

https://sites.google.com/site/witptracker

Combat Reporter

Go over Combat Reports and Operation Reports more easily by category and jump to map location where they happen

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2456864

Archive Searcher

A search engine for Combat and Operation Reports, quickly get information about the history of base/ship/unit (ie. how much CAP did a base have last time you Swept it)

I don't use any of them anymore. There used to be something called intelmonkey that was useful, but I'm not sure if it was ever translated from WITP to AE. Maybe it's been replaced by archive searcher.

+1 on this. I found combination of this probably more than you will ever need, along with a nice Excel sheet for some planning.

I use no tools at all, just Eyeballs Mark I and Brains Beta (still under development and not gone gold yet). I have to use tons of tools and tracking sheets at work, the last thing I want to do in my favorite spare time activity is to use even more tools and sheets. The game can be played perfectly well without any tools.

Edit: The only "tool" I use is in-game - I have replaced the credits screen ("m" key) with a "cheat sheet" :

You could put your cheat sheet on a second screen (among other things).

Well yes, but I usually play while lounging on the couch or in bed with the laptop on my beer belly (which gives just the correct eye height needed [:D]) - no space for a second screen. My big screen is hooked to my work laptop in my home office (which fortunately is big enough to house the work rig plus the gaming laptop *if need be* )

This is a concept I am fully conversant with [:D]

Intelmonkey is witpqs' baby. If it is not stickied on the main forum page, PM him about where to get it. He is also knowledgeable about Tracker. You do need to get a Java version to run Tracker.

Intel monkey is found here: https://sites.google.com/view/staffmonkeys/home

Just to note that some Anti Virus and Anti Malware programs will flag it as bad.
You might have to white list it or whatever to allow it to run.

The link works fine for me, I have no idea why you are getting that error.
When you go to that link you should get a page that has a big Staff Monkeys hyperlink
in the middle. Select it, then on the next page on the left select Intel Monkey.
On the next page scroll to the bottom and on the right is a down arrow, select it
and put the download where you want it.
