Out of the box scenarios

Post by Hano »

I'm looking to do another full campaign but I'm unclear what the difference is between

December 8th Full Campaign
War in the Pacific - The full campaign
War in the Pacific - Hakko Ichiu

I understand the Quiet China options, Hakko Ichiu appears to be a better prepared Japan, but I cant understand the difference between the two Full campaign options

The December 8th Full Campaign begins with the historical damage already done to the US Pacific Fleet and airfields at Pearl Harbor. The Arizona and Oklahoma sunk, other ships badly damaged, and the Kido Butai withdrawing from the area. So, basically no Pearl Harbor attack. It already happened the day before.

Did you know that Quiet China does not happen where Allied and Japanese troops are in adjoining hexes? QC sets a limited number of Japanese objectives to take in China before going quiet, but I think the reactive fighting can still happen. If you want to make it go quiet your must withdraw your side from close contact with the other side.

So the only difference between December 8th Full Campaign and War in the Pacific - Full Campaign is that one starts 24 hrs later than the other?

Yes. With the ships at Pearl Harbor that were sunk on December 7th missing, and other ships damaged that were historically damaged and some aircraft grounded and unable to fly or missing.

The scenario was designed for players who want the historical Pearl Harbor result rather than the more random ones you get with the December 7th start where sometimes you do better and sometimes you do worse than was done historically.

I had one of those - two wrecked BB's and all the others sunk.
