Naval supply not tracing through ferry hexes

Post by K62_ »

According to 24.2.2 in the manual, inland ports such as Stettin, Nikolaev and Kherson function normally if the player controls the ferry hexes leading to them. However this does not seem to be the case and the supply net doesn't trace through these ferry hexes.

I've seen this issue in the campaign game and reproduced it in the DSWF scenario. Here's a screenshot showing Odessa and Ochakov being isolated despite direct contact with Kherson and Nikolaev through Soviet-controlled hexes:

Here's the same screenshot zoomed in to show hex control in the port area.

Save game before running the naval directive. If you move the directive target east of Yevpatoriya, which doesn't have a ferry hex, the isolation no longer happens.

I have bugged this. It does appear that Kherson is not performing it's duty. Looks like Nikolaev should as well, although the German unit could cause an issue with the ferry hexes. You could be right that it has something to do with the ferry hexes needing to be traced through. Oddly your save shows the units isolated as well as the hexes, while when I ran the game using your pre-save, it showed the hexes isolated but not the units. I used the same 1.02.12 version you seem to have been using so can't explain why I get slightly different results. Have sent it to Gary to look at, but this could be a tough one to figure out and fix. Thanks for the saves.

Thanks for looking into it! Yes I think the units only show up as isolated after you run an attack anywhere.
