Separating AG's into "penny packets"

Post by OberstVonWitz »

Hi,

I would like to be able to do the following:

1) Separate bombers from fighters

2) Allocate the number of fighters or bombers

3) Preferably via the above form my own AOG

For example, I do not want 40 Me 109 to do a superiority over X, better to have 20 over X and 20 over Y. Ho can I separate them like this? [&o]

The last would be to have a "multi-purpose AOG lets say for naval interdiction so that fighters and bombers could be moved to an airfield near the
port and thus have everything where you want it.

I am fairly sure this is not the first time such a question has been asked.

PS: I know about % to use but this doesn't really solve the problem....

You can select any "Squadron" to be part of a mission rather than selecting the whole Air Group.
Simply click the "show Air Groups" tab at the bottom of the Mission Screen and the display will change as seen below.

Using the below screen shot you could for example set different missions using 1 "Squadron" for each (depending on miles flown and range etc.

There are two methods that I am aware of:

1) As Stephan61 indicated, if you allocate the individual Air Group ("Squadron") to an Air Directive. The weakness with this method is that Air Groups allocated in this manner cannot be allocated to another Air Directive. This will be its sole mission. Also it means that you can only allocate specific Air Groups to the mission, ie, you cannot allocate an Air Group and a different AOG. You can allocate 2 Air Groups from different AOG's.

Allocating an Air Group out of its AOG to its higher HQ can give you some flexibility here.

2) The other way is to use the Req AC(Esc) function. This allows to to designate exactly how many planes will fly. For example, a Ground Attack mission with Req AC(Esc) set to 24(12) means 24 Bombers fly and 12 Escorts fly. The weakness of this method when combined with AOGs is that the AI picks the planes that fly from the entire AOG. Sometimes you end up with planes flying from an airfield that is at a longer range than others. You can also Rest specific Air Groups in an AOG so that they will not fly any mission. Again, allocating an Air Group out of its AOG to its higher HQ or another AOG can give you some flexibility here.

Hi,

Yep that seems to work. Not going to go how to allocate pilots [:D]
