What do folks use the Allied Depot cards for?

Are they meant to provide a supply source for units one expects to be surrounded?

I'm sure I just don't understand the system well enough yet to see the obvious utility of them.

I have played them in the small scenarios (as Americans) and never have supply problems.
But really I think that card would be more useful in the larger scenarios rather then the small ones. Just my opinion.
