Upgrade vs Reinforce possibilities

Post by stjeand »

Al, Is there any way to add to the current code a button, perhaps change the toggle for reinforce unit to be similar to the air mission toggle providing more options.

Options would be...

1) Do not Upgrade / Reinforce. Works like today.
2) Upgrade / Reinforce. Works like today. Let AI handle method.
3) ONLY Reinforce. Added option.
4) ONLY Upgrade. Added option

There are many times that counties have manpower issues and it is better to just Upgrade a unit to the next advancement rather than reinforce with inferior troops so that they can let their manpower recover.

This is especially huge for Germany in 43+ and Russia in 43+, and all the smaller allies when they actually build a unit.

For example...

Finland has a max of 30 manpower. If they build a large corp they now have 0 manpower and recover 1 per turn. It takes 10 to 15 turns to be able to reinforce again with experienced troops so I would rather just upgrade the infantry to the next year advancement than provide low end reinforcements.

Thanks for your time.

This is a good idea if it is feasible. We have a little room here to add a button.

It could be a simple letter:
R -> Reinforce only
U -> Upgrade only
B -> Both

He could just update the Repair / Upgrade button to have 2 more options. I think that would be easier.

IF possible.

This really hurts the small countries like Finland...Germany can send them PP to upgrade their units when their manpower is gone...but they can at least upgrade and not reinforce.

Oh yes, the button contain a screwdriver and a wrench. I will say it means both.

Now, the wrench for the repair and the scewdriver for the upgrade? [:D]

And an X for neither.

Screwdriver and wrench crossed for both.

Now, the wrench for the repair and the scewdriver for the upgrade?

For the Soviets it should be a hammer/sickle for upgrade and a gun/whip for repair[:D]
