PBEM Question

Post by jimpyle »

When playing a game PBEM, do you have to do your turn all in one sitting? In other words, can you do part of your move, save that part and close the game and then later reopen the game and finish the turn?

You can save the file to take a break. Only once you finish your turn that’s it, then.

That's an excellent question Jim!

I've played a lot of Campaign Series PBEM over the years and there is a mechanism in the game that lets you or your opponent know how many times the game was saved. It says when your opponent opens it in the "Command Report" Turn Saves = 2 or 3 or whatever.

It was a notification that was put in long ago because some players were starting and stopping the game many times during their turn. Some of the players on the opposite side were getting a bit frustrated or heaven forbid maybe even suspicious.

I and a lot of PBEM players realize that during game play "real life" can take the front seat over game play and because of it games have to be stopped and started for many reasons.

If I do that more than 2 times, I make sure my opponent knows why I did it in my email response back. Because they can see how many times I saved the game.

It's a common courtesy and keeping everything up on the table.

Hope this helps!

Great, thanks! With some of the scenarios having hundreds and hundreds of units might be tough doing it in one sitting especially when just learning the system.

That's understandable Jim. I'm playing Hunting in Ho Bo Woods right now and there is a lot to get done in a single turn. There are scenarios out there bigger than that. Good Luck!![;)]
