CSVN 1.01B - Giong Dinh issues

Post by sardpl »

With reference to the attached screenshot:

In hex (7,29) there are a 60mm mortar (IF capable) and a 57mm RCRL (IF not capable). It looks like that selecting both units and pressing ctrl + RB, the 57mm would be scheduled for IF.

Both hexes (11,29) and (11,30) contain a building, but (11,30) seems to be a hard target, while (11,29) is not. Unit 57mm RCRL can fire to (11,29) but not to (11,30) (message: range exceeded). Two kinds of building are not documented in the manual.

The terrain box states that the morale modifier is 5 for (11,30) and 3 for (11,29). The map morale modifier displays 3 for both hexes.

If needed, a save file is available.

Ah yes, I see what you mean.

There are additional entrenchments in that hex which make the morale modifier 5 instead of 3.

This part I am trying to understand why, I would need to see your file to be sure.

There are no hard targets in the scenario near that hex.

Ah yes, the RCRL is not IF capable, seems like a tweak is needed there with how the action is worked.

Here is the save:

Sorry I don't have the older and oldest saves.
An additional entrenchment shouldn't modify the displayed value as it is not visible with FOW.

Points 2 and 3 - further considerations.

The difference between hexes (11,29) and (11,30) is that (11,30) contains a trench, while (11,29) does not.
Does the trench transform the hex in an hard target?
This would explain why the 57mm RCRL can't fire in it, being inside the soft target range, but outside the hard target range.

In any case you can discover an information that should be hidden, observing the info box or trying to fire from an appropriate distance.

No, the issue relates to the targeted enemy being concealed (hidden).

Not a trivial thing to fix, possible Fix One Thing, Break Another situation. Nevertheless, we will ponder a fix.
