Soviet Depot setup 1st turn

Post by DeletedUser1769703214 »

I know Jubjub had a depot setup for the Soviets the first turn he mentioned in his AAR. Does anyone have that or have something similar they wouldn't mind sharing to a total noob such as myself.

I litterally hit the AI depot management and let it do it for me before to move thing.

Why?
Because at -most- it sucks 5 APs, and I've need for APs for other stuff with the Soviets.

It can add me a lot of new depots too - if I do it before to move stuff around at all.

Ty for the answer. But something about "AI" that just makes my butthole pucker after trying it before :(

Think that alternatively you can change 1 more leader, or create more digger regiments or things like that instead of making an amount of depots, or assault up 1 Front HQ which costs 20 to the Soviets!

To me it's not 'delegating the AI' to it, but simply a way to potentially create even 20 new depots (that I can then manually set to whichever priority I need if needs to be) for the cost of no more than 5 AP.

You are saying that auto depot management can use up to 5 AP and create more than 5 depots?

This of course depends partly on how far forward you are defending. In this game I only built 3 depots on turn 1. I would have liked to have built more, but didn't have the AP for it yet.

The circled blue ones are ones I built on turn 1. It helps significantly to have a depot or two around Roslavl and other areas between Smolensk and Gomel if you want to put up any sort of defense on the Dnieper and around that area. It also helps a lot to have at least one other depot up around the Pskov area (Volot). This will get overrun fairly quickly, but it starts with a railyard so it will get some freight quickly, and it gives a supply source when Pskov is taken.

The highlighted yellow ones are additional good locations that I would strongly consider putting depots on in the first 1-3 turns or so.

However, the most important thing with Soviet logistics is not depots, it is supply priority. Simply put your entire army on supply priority level 4 and keep it there (at least until you get to the point where you may want to save trucks for tank corps or something). If you have supply priority 4, your units will end up getting good supply and high CVs. Also be generous with the depot priority levels, put depots that are anywhere close to the front on level 4, and ones slightly further back on level 3.

Yes, it is nice for the added depots. The one feature I did not like was the removing of depots that I had built instead of putting them at zero. Does the AI still remove depots?

Thank you so much for this information. I will incorporate this into my game.

Yes precisely.
Pretty sure it's written on the manual!
