Multi role units deploying to map

Post by Hardradi »

Turn 10, I noticed the 369th Croatian Infantry Regiment automatically deployed into an area of the Ukraine far from repaired rail and supplies. I check another game and it deployed just across the Slovakian border in Poland.

The arrival hex does not seem be be governed Set Reserve TB Arrival hex.

Is there are way to control this?

I am familiar with the unit, as I typically find more useful to convert to support as it gives a pretty nice CV boost when attached as a SU.

It stands out because not all regiments allow you to do that.

But have no idea of anyway to control where that reinforcement appears.

They must have got lost in the rain, as they spawned 80 miles from the nearest rail head.

Such is life. [:)]

I don't believe I have had it that bad before.

I would have remembered something like that. IIRC, it arrives fairly close to Hungary.

For me, I have to rail it up to OKH to convert to support. That only takes me 1 turn.

Is there some randomness that occurs to where it arrives?

As a followup, I checked the reinforcement / transfers view.

It's destination given is just 'MAP' for that unit.

Some of the other units, such as the Blue Division, actually give an exact hex location for its arrival.

Perhaps this is something you can submit to see if the scenario Czars can address?

It probably appears wherever you have placed the Arrival Hex. If you hit 'r' and go into rail mode you will see a single hex that is solid yellow, this is the Reserve deployment hex. You can set a specific hex (I usually set it to Warsaw) by right clicking on the hex and setting the TB Appearance Hex from the drop down menu.

The real problem is when something like 'Flanders Battallion' gets converted into a motorized brigade and oozes out of the main unit they're into... and suddenly you've a 0 movement, abysmal supplies unit on the map. That maybe needs to run away and it lacks supplies or so.

In '43 I experienced that a lot - that SU units of battallion or so size gets converted into brigades and ... (Given probably a label to remind a player that unit is due to resize or so suffices).

Not in this case, my arrival hex was Warsaw but the Croatian Regiment spawned in the middle of the Ukraine.

Agree. I don't think the Croatian regiment's arrival hex is governed by the reinforcement hex set.
