Downloaded the patch and the game seems to have become a memory hog now. It takes forever to perform just about any function, over five minutes to even change screens.
My laptop is going on a year old, so not a fossil, and it was running the game great just one patch ago. Is this an anticpated result of the patch?

This doesn't sound right at all, could you perhaps try a reboot and/or a full uninstall and reinstall to see if that might resolve the issue?
Just curious if there is some other PC related issue, perhaps your Anti Virus software or similar, that might lead you to believe the game is acting up when it isn't etc.
This will help to narrow things down before looking into it further,
Hubert

It is unfortunately hard to see from that image as the numbers are a bit fuzzy, but from what I see the amount of memory that the game is using is a little over 1 GB (I think), which is normal for the game.
But what is showing is that 90% of your available memory is being used up, which makes me think you either have other apps using up your memory or your available RAM is on the low side, perhaps you've lost some RAM as another possibility?
Can you verify that your laptop meets the minimum system requirements?
Here is a link to check how much RAM your PC currently has:

Can you also create a DxDiag file and send it to support@furysoftware.com?
Details for this can be found here:

Not a biggie but there’s an issue with Chat in 14.0.1
The value for the player name is blank so it renders just the colon then the message

Thanks for the report and I believe there was an issue with the server that was causing this error in game, can anyone confirm if their names are now showing again in the chat?

Thanks and it looks like there still might be an issue with the PBEM server for some player logins, looking into it.

Error in your 14.0/1 update:
You mention:
- Resource scripts added for Algiers; Rabat; Fez, Tunis, Bordeaux, Marseille, Brest and Perpignan so that they start the war at zero strength, increasing by 1 per Allied turn.
HOWEVER:
-- Marseilles does not have any resource capacity whatsoever, much less being set to zero.
-- Algiers and Tunis are currently starting at lvl 5.
EDIT: After confering with Bill, I was in error - the cities do have the proper starting level of zero.

I've just run a test, using the released version on steam, and all these resources are showing as zero strength and therefore supply.
However, the units occupying Algiers and Tunis do have supply of 5 as they are obtaining it from the port.
Can you confirm that you're game is fully updated? I ran my test using the top 1939 World at War campaign.

Hi Bill.
I will certainly look into it. I thought it had the current version running, but I will look.
Can you tell me, how do you adjust those values in the editor? I did not find that I could do that via the resource layer 'select' option. Is it coded into a file?

Yes, they are tied into a Resource script, so you can either amend or even turn it off should you wish to. If it is turned off then the resources will start the game at their maximum permissible strength.

OK, thanks. Could you tell me in which directory I would find said Resource script?
Also, my apologies, sir - I was in error and in fact see that the resources for all the cities are correct on my map. I will amend my comment earlier.

If you have the campaign open in the Editor, go to Campaign -> Edit Event Scripts
In the screen that pops up, select Resource and then the Open/Edit button.
This should open up the file in a text editor, and you can then peruse the contents.
If you do want to modify anything you will need to save the campaign with a new name, and also be sure to press the Update button in the Campaign -> Edit Event Scripts after any script changes, as otherwise they won't take effect when you start a new game.
