mouse click drag function deselects unit, annoying

Post by overkill01 »

I find it very annoying that whenever I drag the map with left mousebutton I also deselect whatever I have selected.
Just a minor annoyence but I guess this could be easily fixed by putting either drag or deselect on another button, or a combo "alt+click", or put them in the "change key mappings" so that I can put it on mouse 4 or 5

I wish we could assign drag to move map to middle mouse button, then we could drag select with left button and rotate with right (which also does movement orders). That's what would feel most natural to me and that would fix what your describing. I'm really struggling with the intuitiveness of the controls at the moment.

The main issue is that the selection is cleared on LMB down. If it waited until it was sure you weren't trying to do an additional select action, I think it would be a lot more usable.

just as this is annoying for you, it behaves the same for the right click when using that button for rotating the view.
I do not use the middle mouse button because to press it, you have to press it harder than the normal mouse button. but when rotating the extended pop up comes up (move to, explore this and that).
so i hope, when your left button issue is fixed, they also fixe it with the right button.

I hope it will be quickly fixed, and the fix would look like: if you do not move your mouse (too much), it is interpreted as a click, if the mouse is moved while clicking, it is interpreted as draggin (left click) or rotating the view (right click).

and for sure it would be gret, if the middle mouse could get a selectable alternative function.
