Space creature carcasses, what for and are they auto-collected?

Post by ppga »

So started blowing up gravilexes with my first fleet and noticed that once destroyed they leave a carcass and bits of themselves on the map. I am going to assume the other creatures do as well.

I didn't see anyone trying to collect the pieces, so I manually ordered an explorer to collect the bits as the frigates didn't have that option and I didn't see any automated explorers going to pick up the pieces. Will they ever do it automatically, or should I just assign an explorer to each fleet to pick them up manually? Pieces don't show up under the exploration tab anywhere.

Now my explorer has hundreds of gravilex crystals, and I'm kind of curious if they are used for anything as I haven't figured that out yet.

I have seen constructor ships collect material from them automatically...

I don't know what the gravilex crystals are for but normal scrap will net you resources and sometimes a research breakthrough at least at this npc pirate base I blew up that had scrap all around it.

Space creature corpses are resources.
Vordicars are utterly mundane Silicon.

Gravilex give Gravilex Crystalls (+11% Development).
They can very rarely be found on Planets as well.

As with debris from ships, any ship on automatic will eventually collect them.
It usually comes just after their current mission.
Even Colonizers on Automatic will first grab stuff.

You can manually order a collection, but I would propably only do that for the core part. It is to hard to find all the small suff and propably not worth your time anyway.

I've ordered (constructor, exploration?) ships to gather them before and I see the crystals in the cargo for the ship, then what? Have it dock at any spaceport?

Docked at a planet, as it has unlimited cargo space and it will be unloaded ...
