Is invading independents too punishing?

Post by Velk »

The Mortalen are all about the invading, and keep pushing you to invade independent colonies, but this seems to be a terrible idea under almost all circumstances.

Having an unhappy and unproductive colony for invading is fine and perfectly reasonable.

Having other races dislike you for doing so is also fine and reasonable.

Having your own race hate you for invading independents is a bit much, especially when it is supposed to be your race's whole thing.

The massive economic loss of more than 10 points of unhappiness to every single one of your colonies per independent invaded seems unreasonable. Buying them off doesn't seem like it should be vastly preferable in every situation.
