[1.0.2.4]Colonizer Picked wrong Source planet

Post by zgrssd »

As Akdarian, I ordered the colonisation of a Ocean World.
23 Suitability for Akdarians
-12 Suitability for Humans

The Colonizer picked a Human colony with some Akdarians
Resulting in a Colony that has:
60M Humans. Which are unhappy about this crappy planet
0.001M Akdariands. Which are not the dominant species but like it there!

Colonizer Choose the Wrong Planet and picked up the wrong species:
Just because they also live on the planet, does not mean every species on that planet is suitable.
Just because they are on the planet, does not mean a species is also dominant.

No the Planet Rebelled. And the count of Akdarians was set to 30M!

Still unhappy as heck that planet.

Out of curiosity, did you have any other colony ships deployed at around the same time, or another colony flagged for colonisation?

I ask, because in my experience, there is some kind of hidden 'list' the AI has of where it is sending ships to when they are first being built, which can get disrupted if one of the ships in the list gets rerouted or cancelled for whatever reason. Variations of this have been responsible for 90% of the colonisation mistakes by the AI that I have seen so far.

I build the Ship.
Did some retrofitting the second it came out the yard.
But I did not disrupt it at any time between it finishing retrofitting, picking up it's colonists and then went off.
There might have been a second planete, but I think for that Ackdarians and humans would have been worse.

And other people reported similar isues with Migration Transports - it picking a cross section of the population from a planet with some of the right species. As a result, flipping over the dominant species with the wrong ones.

Okay, that planet has now:
- Rebelled against me
- conquered by the Haakonish
- rebelled agains the Haakonish
- and is now going to be re-colonized by me

This time the Colony ship did pick a pure Ackdarian colony crew. And it went out of it's way to do so.
The main change is that this time, Ackdarians are present. 30 Million of them.
I guess that helped the game "choose wisely"?

I got similar success with the Ancient Slave Colony. Went out of it's way to get humans. Because it also has 3 of my species, it propably knew who not to grab.

Another case where I am not sure if it is a misspick:
I had two planets queued, 1 Ocean World and 1 Indy Continental World with only Humans.
The colonizer picked up my Primary species, then went for the Continental - where they only have a +1 Suitability.

I guess this can be chalked up to the game prefering the Primary Species?
And the fact that the small amount would not cause a flip of Dominant species?
