Viruses and other fun events

I just had three different viruses hit my capital and start spreading simultaneously. What a stroke of bad luck!

What can you do to mitigate?
How can you see which colonies are infected?
Come on seriously? Three all at once?

This may be the straw that breaks my first game's back.

1.) Have Medical Components in Orbit

2.) There are different Luxury Ressources that add a healing bonus.

3.) in DWU there was a Biohazard sign somewhere next to the colony and on the colony info.
