CLARIFIED - 1.06.2 - UK transport pool

Post by ncc1701e »

Using 1.06.2 version, the UK transport pool allows to move plenty of low strength Australian and New Zealand units and send them to the Celebes and to the Solomons.

I would make the following limitation to avoid a devastating first Allies turn:

1. I would reduce the UK transport pool from 40 to 10 (for sending UK troops to India) and bring 30 transports back in the Deployment queue few turns after start.

2. As suggested by sveint, I would introduced a new supply rule like the following:

Celebes - The Allies player may not draw supply to any port in the Celebes, namely Manando, Makassar, Ambon, Sorong, Weda and Dili, if Japan control Jayapura or Lae.

thanks for suggestion.

I will consult Hadros which pulls all the cheezy moves to see what he thinks about this situation.

As I have played WPP myself I think there is no issue. Of the Allies want to throw troops into a burning ship I will gladly kill them all is my perspective. If they want to through ships too I will sink them as well.

Well, I am not yet at your level of play.

The main problem I see with this is linked to:

1. What eskuche is saying, the units that are magically repairing overseas without transport to intercept:
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 8#p4981248

2. Allies player will bring plenty of bombers to destroy your oil fields by strategic bombing from the Celebes.

3. Since this is early in the game, your oil stockpile is low. 3 ships per port and you will see that port blockade is soon no more an option in addition to Main Supply in Java and Sumatra, you won't get the 30 oil points of Palembang any time soon.

I like keeping the repair situation simple. If there is a solution to this I will find it.

An idea: change the code regarding Defense Infantry Division. They can only land in a port owned by their country. Celebes and Solomons are owned by DEI and by UK. As such, no more Australian Defense Infantry Division sent there on turn one. The Australian Defense Infantry Division can only be on a territory owned by Australia.

Not a change for Japan.

If Australia wants to send one or two divisions in DEI why not. This is the battle of Java Sea after all.
