Ground attack help

Hi forum, I am playing Desert Storm. I am on the second mission. I have a pair of A10s in the air but they will not attack the ground targets. Target is Mechanised Infantry. I have the GUA-8 gun and Mavericks.

Weapons allocation screen for GUA-8 says in red - Automatic fire is not possible, doctrine says 'Do not use guns against ground and ship targets'. This is an issue.

Maverick says Automatic fire is NOT possible., targeting is Bearing Only Launch.....'

I next tried changing the Weapons Release Authorisation screen and change lots of settings and it has made no difference. i have done this on the aircraft and in the mission screen. No effect.

What am I getting wrong?

Are the units assigned to a Patrol Mission or are you manually choosing targets?

You can manually assign a unit to attack with CTRL-F1 or SHIFT-F1. CTRL-F1 is bearing only, in the lower left corner of that screen you'll see a Latitude-longitude of the target point. SHIFT-F1 is for assigning units manually as targets, and you'll see a name in the lower left like ARMOR #17 or T-72.





Changing the WRA for ground targets will allow the cannon to fire on them.

There were assigned to a mission to attack specific targets. As they would not attack I unassigned them and selected the targets for them to attack both auto and manual. I will try as you have suggested and see what happens. Thank you so much for taking the time to help.

Unfortunately this has not worked. I tried changing the WRA also with no success. I wonder if A10s just cannot attack mechanised infantry. I have managed to get them to attack tanks.
