But, either way I am not sure of how this is calculated.

I want to use the North Carolina BB Div for AAA protection of my CV fleet. By default, this Large Warships 1942 ship has an Anti-Air value of 6. With an experience of 60%, an effectiveness of 100%, I understand the final Anti-Air value of 3 as seen below.

Now, I am adding Screening specialty to use the North Carolina BB Div unit.

So, I still an experience of 60%, an effectiveness of 100% and a default Anti-Air value of 6. But, honestly, I don't understand how the end result calculated is an Anti-Air value of 4.

I don't really get it. Could you please clarify?

Thanks a lot

I was thinking it was maybe linked to the values of the whole stack of ships. But, taking the ship alone, we are back to an Anti-Air value of 3.

And something funny, the South Dakota BB Div unit that is exactly the same, a Large Warships 1942, an experience of 60%, an effectiveness of 100% and a default Anti-Air value of 6.

But, it is displaying an Anti-Air value of 2?

3x the text was wrong.

Since fleets have a wide dispersion AA is calculated by the square root of the total.

Larger fleets lose AA effectiveness in a sense. If a plane is attacking the CV the ships around the CV use their AA the most. Those on the far edges of the taskforce might be out of range or be less effective.

The thing is I don't see the impact on Anti-Air value with this specialty.

It has more impact with smaller fleets.

Take a small group of a BB, CA, and DD....

5 + 2 + 2 = 9 sqrt = 3. 3 chances to shoot down an air unit.

Give the DD AA = 12 sqrt = 3.46. 3.46 chances to shoot down an air unit or ~+12%.
