How Nail the Prince of Wales and Repulse?

Post by Kriegsspieler »

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to attack and sink the Prince of Wales and the Repulse on the first turn? For example, do you take the CV group in Palau and park them somewhere off Singapore? I tried attacking them with the TAC bomber group in Indochina, but that didn't go well at all! Repairing that group will eat heavily into my production next turn, I imagine.

Don't suggest that I wait for the AI to do something stupid, because for the time being I am playing both sides in hotseat mode. I am perfectly capable of acting stupidly too, but I do not plan to leave them floating in the Gulf of Thailand or the South China Sea.

Interesting game, by the way. Lots to learn!

those 2 bombers are your only real chance sometimes you get lucky and sink them usually they escape damaged. Historically they were sunk because the British were kinda dumb with them so if your opponent, in this case you are smart they often survive. have fun and welcome it is a GREAT game !

Thanks. Yes, I've tried several times using the air groups in Indochina and, as you say, the results are pretty variable! Best I've dine is sink the Repulse and put a couple of hits on the Prince of Wales.

More often than not I sink one of the ships. Maybe 67% of the time. Either the destroyer squadron or a BB. But it makes me wonder if it is worth the oil at this point in the game. I have never not attacked them, but do question it at times.

It will be easier next patch once the DEI fighters are back to Interceptors.
