[1.0.3.4] ion+assaultpod ships dont use railguns on attack order

Post by Lunalis »

in my recent teekan game i had escorts equipped with the large ion bomb, assault shuttles and long range cannons.
i tried attacking a pirate base as i wanted them to destory it.

but i think they somehow keep wanting to "capture it ?" even with direct attack orders, so they refuse to use their long range cannon on it and i have to watch them try to destroy it with their ion bombs.

the two pirate escorts i captured earlier happily shoot their railguns on the pirate base and they also have assault pods, but no ion weapons.

if i tell the fleet to capture the base they stop shooting and capture it instead.
also doesnt matter what empire policy setting i have set to "capture bases always/never". with an attack order they just seem to use the ions.

the save is from halfway through the fight when i noticed they dont use the cannons on the station, maybe i can get another save later attacking a different pirate base with the fleet from the start.

while i am at "combat issues":
with how "kamikaze into the enemy ships hull" fighters work currently, using teekan ion bombs blows up all your own fighters all the time.

i have to mess a bit more with "tactics settings" on fighter/bombers, but so far it seems it doesnt matter much what you set them to.
(the "aggressive/neutral/cautious" stuff. i think fighters on evade will stay so far away that they cant use their weapons... atleast that is what they did in my last game. but yea, need to text more with this stuff and observe how they behave in combat.)

fleet settings also dont seem to do anything on fighters. interceptors on "close escort" dont tend to stick/escort to the fleet ships and intercept fighters/missiles more than attack hostile ships what the "attack" setting should do.
and if it does something, atleast so far i havent noticed it doing much. (but fighting pirate bases with hangars they do tend to have a brawl against the pirate fighters, so they seem to priotize enemy fighters in a way)

Hi - thanks for the feedback! Were you able to find a workaround for your ships attacking the colonies rather than capturing them? Either way, our team is working hard to address these kinds of issues so we'd really appreciate if you could input the data you've got about this bug here: https://forms.gle/s42oXpmoiDFGFEah6
