Soviet CP points + Assault HQs

Post by Veterin »

Hi all,

I'm playing Soviets on turn 14 (Sep 21 1941) and I've found that i don't have enough CP points for all my units. All my fronts are fully utilised and i'm using Moscow MD too. The only one i'm not using is North Caucus MD but that's due to distance.

My understanding of Assault HQ's is that they allow for additional CP however i made one of my Fronts an assault HQ a few turns ago and it still has 72 max CP with the Armies in the command remaining on 21. Am i missing something?

What would be the best strategy for me to pursue now? Have armies go directly to STAVKA so i don't overload my Fronts? Looks like i don't get another Front HQ until turn 27 (Volkhov).

The Soviet rules were significantly revisited in patch 01.01.14. Basically they now get 0 extra command pts in 1941, 10% in 42 and then it increases to 34% (43) and 67% (44 and 45).

Still retain the other assault benefits such as faster CPP regain.

So you will exceed the Soviet Front limits for 1941 and most likely for early 1942. Given that, I try to keep my active fronts under their Command Capacity and the rest are linked to a badly led command (so the Moscow command will do and the N Cauc one for the southern half) really for reasons of map organisation. In essence the Front command is so bad that these formations have their army leadership test and then Stavka (if they are within 30 odd hexes of Stavka this is not too bad). it gets better in 1942 as you get a couple of fresh fronts as the year goes on
