New manual.

Post by Killmaster851 »

Any plans on making a new manual that you can actually use?
The current one is worthless and might be barely usable if it was condensed by about 70-80%.
None of the people i have spoken to have liked it the sligthest please do somthing!

It nor the living manual are useless. False flag stories.

Yes. The current manual plus the living manual are not worthless as they are claiming. And you can use both manuals to find the info you need.

You'll need more than one day off to read the manual, and many more to understand even a minuscule portion of it.

There aren't six people on this planet that know everything that's in it. And I'll wager that a PHD in Military Science at West Point with 20 years experience would have a difficult if not impossible task of comprehending and explaining some of the paragraphs that describe various functions and calculations.

But there are people who would defend this manual to the death, rather than admitting the game is unnecessarily complicated and that so is the manual. So nothing will improve and a select few who have devoted their lives to understanding all of the complexities involved will ensure that the status quo prevails.

Yeah I know, I should play checkers instead of pointing out any flaws in your game. But I would think you could have a more successful and profitable business model if you reconsidered some aspects of this game.

thanks.

The game is not unnecessarily complicated, it’s very easy to understand the basics but much harder to master and we don’t want it “dumbed down”, if it’s not your cup of tea move on and play something much more simpler. No one is forcing you to purchase let alone play this wonderful detailed and entertaining game.

Well the once that have complained about the manual amount to about 10-15 people.
Plenty of my friends used to play wite2 until the soviet bias became too much for them and they stopped.

the game is playable if all you use is Ch4 and the One Page Guides - regard the rest as a resource when you need to check something. if I recall that gives you a 50-60 page manual so not far off what you want?

more generally, always interested in useful feedback, the original is never going to be redone but we can make modifications in the Living Manual if someone comes up with a section that can be usefully reworked

I want to honestly admit that I have never read a large textbook on WITE2, because I do not know English! And this does not prevent me from playing at all, because i played a lot of WITE1. In addition, I made a translation of the WITE2 short manual for myself. I like this game for its complexity. I constantly learn something new and it gives me pleasure. This game makes you think a lot and I love these games!

Нет. Просто все и так в основном понятно либо не имеет особых отличий от первой части. А мануал к первой части я читал. Вообще в планах закончить перевод мануала к первой части, но это не первоочередная моя задача. В основном занимаюсь переводом самой игры.

I'm a relative newbie.
For me, like any reference material, the manual is not "read" per-se, but selectively consulted when I am ready to tackle something new: like getting serious about the air war or actually getting a clue on how logistics impacts combat.

I like this game (and manual) and do not think it is complicated in the sense of difficult to comprehend. I think of a car: simple to comprehend in its details and to also operate because so many aspects of it are under the covers. Much of its operation is automatically set so we don't need to worry about it. Now, take ownership of much more of the "minutia" of a car and now you have the ability to create a race car. Probably a very bad example because nothing about this game is 'fast'. It's just about what you can do when you are in control. Thanks for making it that way.

Yes, it can be frustrating, (What happens when I do THIS? Well, THAT didn't work out so hot.) but never boring.

From one relative newbie to another, you hit it right on the head!
